A new ministry is coming to St Francis de Sales!!

First meeting- Weds. Nov.16. 7-9PM

The Catholic Charities LOSS PROGRAM was started by Fr Charles Rubey in 1979 with 3 couples who had lost children to suicide. At that time, they would meet regularly in their homes. Today this program has spread throughout the Archdiocese and beyond bringing hope and meaning to those affected by suicide.

Open monthly group meetings will be held at the Parish and Ministry Center on the 3rd WEDS of EACH MONTH; 7-9pm.

Anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide is invited to attend. **Please register if you are new to this program by calling (312) 655-7283

Suicide loss is complicated and traumatic. Together we walk through this specific type of grief and offer each other support. A licensed clinician and a trained facilitator will run each meeting. No matter how recent or how long ago you experienced loss by suicide -all are welcome! Any questions, please call Tish Guinter (847) 293-4332

SPRED MINISTRY NEEDS CATECHISTS!

We need adults, 21 years or older, who want to befriend and nurture the Catholic faith of an individual with intellectual and developmental disabilities, while deepening their own faith. We currently need Catechists, for two young boys for this year’s group of friends aged 9-16. We also have several younger children on our waiting list, just waiting for you, to be served. A willing heart and a desire to share your faith with another are the only qualifications needed.

We welcome anyone interested to contact Kelly L. Smith at 847-287-8640, kellylyn60@yahoo.com or Jackie Bathery at 847-438-9136, jnj1229@aol.com

It's Back! SPRED NUT SALE - November 12th & 13th 2022

Yes, we know you have missed us! It has been three long years since we held our Nut Sale. Fortunately, we are back again just in time for your holiday needs. The St. Francis de Sales SPRED group will be holding their one and only fundraiser, with all profits going directly to the SPRED program here at St. Francis and to help spread SPRED to our neighboring parishes. We will be selling fantastic nuts and chocolates from The Georgia Nut Company. Our nuts and chocolates make the best hostess gifts! Please help us out by purchasing some of our quality nuts and chocolates. You’ll find us in the gathering space after all masses November 12th & 13th 2022.

A Holiday Tradition – A Gift of Love

We are returning to our tradition of adopting families and women from Mt. St. Joseph again this year. This year we have many individuals and families who need our assistance during the upcoming holidays. By remembering them with a Christmas gift and food for their dinner, we act as a reminder of Christ’s presence in the world today. We are also requesting gift cards or cash donations to allow us to purchase gift cards for families and for our sharing parish – Our Lady of Tepeyac. We will not have the Sharing Tree for Our Lady of Tepeyac this year. We ask that you purchase a new article of clothing and a gift for each child in the family. Gifts for the parents are optional. We also ask that you purchase $10 Jewel or Walmart gift cards per person for the family so that they may make their own food selection. Look for the Gift of Love sign-up tables in the Gathering Space before and after Masses the weekends of November 5th and 6th , 12th and 13th and 19th and 21st. If you donate gift cards or cash they can be mailed to St. Francis, 135 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich 60047, dropped off at the Ministry Center, dropped off in a dedicated box in church during the weekend masses, through the online giving program. If you donate gift cards please make the cards in increments of $25 or $50 and only for Walmart, Target or Jewel. On behalf of everyone who has been assisted through the Gift of Love, thank you for your generosity in past years. We hope you find it possible to continue to make this a holiday tradition. Stop by the table to sign up or learn more about the program or call Jane Clery at 847-370-8933 with any questions you may have.

Additional Allegations Against Fr David Ryan

Dear Parishioners of St. Francis de Sales Parish,

I am writing with upsetting news. Yesterday the Archdiocese received two allegations of sexual abuse of a minor against Fr. David Ryan. As is the case with all such matters, the archdiocese will report these allegations to civil authorities and offer assistance to the persons who made them. In keeping with our policies, I have asked Father Ryan to step aside until our Independent Review Board can investigate the allegations and present its recommendations to me. He has agreed to cooperate fully with our process, which will move forward as expeditiously as possible. We will provide Fr. Ryan with pastoral assistance, and I know he is grateful for your support.

We have appreciated your patience with this process in the past and your understanding that only with an impartial and thorough effort can we fulfill our duty to protect the young people in our care and, if the investigation warrants, restore the good name of the one so accused.

Please know I am keeping all of you in my prayers as we complete this process. I hope you will join me in praying for everyone involved in the work of protecting children.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Archbishop of Chicago
